Nuno Torres

Studied alto saxophone within a jazz tradition spectrum. His continuous solo experimental research explores a wide scope of sound material through the use of the extended technics. Participates in several ensembles of improvisational music, electro acoustics and reductionism.

Collaborates with other musicians such as, Ernesto Rodrigues, Ricardo Jacinto, Sei Miguel, Fala Mariam, João Castro Pinto, Manuel Mota, David Stackenäs, Paulo Raposo, Carlos Santos, César Burago, José Oliveira, Shiori Usui, C. Spencer Yeh, Cyril Bondi and d’incise, and projects as Orquestra de Geometria Variável, IKB, CACTO, PinkDraft,

In the recent years has been also collaborating in several different projects at the intersection of the performative areas of dance, theatre and the visual arts (PARQUE, Les Voisins, Eye Height, Adriana Sá, Beatriz Cantinho). Participates and curates experimental and community radio initiatives.

Ricardo Jacinto

Born in Lisbon, 1975. Currently undertaking a PHD research at SARC / Belfast.

Since 1998 has presented his work at individual and group exhibitions, concerts and performances, in Portugal and abroad. Has done several collaborations with other artists, musicians, architects and performers.

From his work stands out the projects: PARQUE, developed since 2001 in collaboration with other artists and musicians and EYE HEIGHT directed together with choreographer Beatriz Cantinho.

Presented his work in solo and group exhibitions such as Project Room CCB_Lisboa, Circle Fine Arts in Madrid, MUDAM_Luxemburgo, Centre Culturel Gulbenkian_Paris, Manifesta 08_European Bienal of Contemporary Art in Italy, Loraine Frac-Metz, OK CENTRE_Linz_Austria, CHIADO 8_Culturgest_Lisboa and Casa da Musica in Porto. Projected, with architect Pancho Guedes, the installation “Lisboscópio” for the Official Portuguese Representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2006. In Culturgest (Lisbon) presented in 2008 a significant body of his work since 1998.

As cellist has worked in the field of improvised music with several musicians and formations (Nuno Torres, David Maranha, Pedro Rebelo, Franziska Shroeder, C Spencer Yeh, Hernani Faustino, Rodrigo Pinheiro, Ernesto Rodrigues, Ricardo Guerreiro, Travassos, Shiori Usui, Manuel Mota, Gabriel Ferrandini, Pedro Sousa, Variable Geometry Orchestra, PINKDRAFT, CACTO, PARQUE).

Presented his work as a musician-performer in the Festival Gallery VERB Vermelho_São Paul, Festival Temps d’Images_Lisboa, Rescaldo_Lisboa Festival, Festival BigBang_CCB_Lisboa, Culturgest_Porto and Lisbon, ZDB_Lisboa, Dance Base_Edimburgo, Kabinett 0047_Oslo_Noruega, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Palais Tokyo_Paris, EMS 13_Culturgest/Lisbon, among others.

Sara Morais

Born in Lisbon, the 5th of november 1982.

Graduated in Communication Sciences and Cinema by Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Post-graduation in Development of Film Project by Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. During these studies, she directed 3 short films: “O silêncio dos objectos” (2004), “Conto” (2005) and “Chegar a casa” (2011).

In 2007, she directed “Desvio/Padrão” (Standard/Deviation) a film about the work on tile by portuguese artist Maria Keil published as a dvd book coworking with Joana Morais.

She lived in Madrid where she collaborated with Alcine – Alcalá de Henares Short Film Festival. She assisted Art Director Wayne dos Santos in several advertisment films.

She worked as director’s assistant and sound capturer for Tiago Pereira in some of his films and live cinema performances and collaborated with Maile Colbert in the intermedia performance “Passenger at Home” produced by Binaural.

As a producer she collaborated with the project “Eye Height” by Ricardo Jacinto and Beatriz Cantinho in Fundição de Oeiras, Museu do Chiado and Fundação de Serralves.

She is the author of a radio project called “Histórias de Rios”(stories from rivers) broadcasted by portuguese public radio Antena 1, where she followed the course of 4 portuguese rivers mixing soundscapes, local stories, music by Pinkdraft, and geography.

Alexandre Costa | Light

Frequência do segundo ano do curso de Teatro, no ramo de Produção, na Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. Iniciou o seu percurso em Teatro como técnico de luz e palco no Teatro da Garagem. Trabalhou como técnico/operador de luz e técnico de palco no Teatro Aberto, Teatro da Garagem e Teatro da Trindade. Foi responsável técnico do Teatro Bocage.

Colabora como técnico de luz e de palco em alguns festivais de música, teatro e com associações/projectos. Desenho de Luz em encenações de Maria João Miguel, Nuno Nunes, Patrícia Carreira, Maria Camões e Paulo Lage. Colaborou em iluminação com Máquina Agradável e Karnart.

João Quirino | Website & Photography

Graphic Designer and Photographer, is interested in all areas connected to the visual arts. Graduated  by IADE in Industrial Design, has a course in Audio / Video as Sound Technician. In 2000, worked as an intern in national TV Channel SIC, and later was responsible by the Design Department of Lorenz Bell, from 2007 to 2011.

Part of his work can be found in retailers such as Staples, Sonae, Worten, El Corte Inglés, Vobis, Fnac and E.Leclerc.

Intends to participate in art and culture related projects, through Design and related areas, such as Photography and Webdesign.

Is currently developing artwork for the mobile app industry, as a Graphic Artist.

Nuno Morão | Audio
Lisbon, 1976. Works as a musician, composer and sound designer (theatre, performance, installation, cinema, web and new media), and also as a sound recordist, mixer, editor and director (film and video). Began his musical studies in 1983. Studied at IGL, FLUL, UA and ESML. Drummer and percussionist through jazz workshops promoted by HCP, and currently studies jazz (drums) at UE. Founded Teatro NãO in 1997. Collaborates with André Sier in project UR since 2004. Technical director with Escrita na Paisagem between 2004 and 2007. Collaborates with Ricardo Jacinto since 2006, namely in PARQUE, and is a member of Ensemble JER since September 12, 2001.
Percussionist-improviser with Pinkdraft, IKB, and other formations of experimental and improvised music. Co-editor and sound designer at BOCA (audiobooks) since 2010. Walks, field records, and photographs.

Sofia Afonso | Video

Sofia Afonso was born in 1982, in Nîmes, France. She graduated in Communication Sciences and Cinema by Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

She also studied Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, where she worked at the Barcelona Televisió and made a Post- Graduation in Cultural Practices at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas.

She did her intership at the Cinemateca Portuguesa.

In 2011 she developed a Documentary Serie called Ligados à Terra for the Portuguese National Television (RTP). Currently she’s based in Porto where she work in different projects essencialy in the documentary field, in areas like Contemporary Dance, Theater, and Performance with companies like Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte and Pele.

 

Travassos | Design

Travassos was born in 1972 in Barreiro, in the outskirts of Lisbon, and has spent his childhood travelling from city to city between Portugal and Spain. He graduated in Design and has post-graduate certificate in Sustainable Design by Aveiro University.

During his studies he worked at the Jazz section at the megastore of Valentim de Carvalho de Aveiro, he programmed the evenings of “projecto 70&Set” of the Cultural and Congress Centre of Aveiro and he has founded in 2001 the 1st Aveiro Jazz Festival. After finishing his studies he spent a year in Barcelona doing a Leonardo da Vinci European Program traineeship at the international agency CDN – Competitive Design Network.

Back to Portugal Travassos became part of Trem Azul, the only Jazz distribution, program and production company in Portugal, mostly known internationally for being the home of Clean Feed Records (recognized as one of the best jazz labels of the world  five times in a row in the last years).

In paralel he founded and directed RESCALDO and MUCO Music Festivals.

Prizes: Projet Lúmen – International Competition “Ciudades Futuras” of BCD – Barcelona Centro de Diseño / 3d Place at the Bombay Sapphire Competition of CPD – Centro Português de Design / Honourable Mention for the short film “MAD” at  Jovens Criadores Competition / Best cover artwork (2008 and 2009) of All About Jazz New York.
