RICARDO JACINTO | Music and Installation

Born in Lisbon in 1975. Graduated in Architecture at the University of Lisbon-Faculty of Architecture, and in Sculpture and Advanced Visual Arts at Ar.Co / Lisbon. Graduate courses at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Studied music at the Hot Clube de Portugal and Musical Analysis and Composition at the Academia de Amadores de Música / Lisbon.
Since 1998 has presented his work at individual and group exhibitions, concerts and performances, in Portugal and abroad. He has done several collaborations with other artists, musicians, architects and performers.
Some of his most recent works have been presented at Circulo de Belas Artes (Madrid), MUDAM (Louxembourg) Culturgest (Lisbon and Porto), Centre Culturel Gulbenkian (Paris), Casa da Música (Porto), MANIFESTA 07_European Biennal of Contemporary Art (Italy) and the 10th Architecture Exhibition- Venice Bienal (Collaboration with Architect Pancho Guedes).


Presently developing practice based research work as a PhD student in Dance/Aesthetics at Edinburgh College of Art. Attended, as Visiting Scholar, N.Y.U/TISCH (performance and cinema departments). As a researcher her work focus mainly in the mechanisms of image perception within aesthetics and performance. Internships in Noh Theatre at Kyoto Art Centre and Royal de Luxe Company. Artistically for the past years has been developing work as a choreographer (“Parde2”, “Scch…um ensaio sobre o silêncio”, “Singularity”) or in different collaborative projects with other artists within fine arts and performance (Herwig Turk, Valério Romão, Ricardo Jacinto, Vangelis Lymporidis, Shiori Usui). The work has been presented in Portugal, France, U.K, Germany and Austria. The academic research as been presented at Edinburgh University, Chelsea College of Art, Cambridge University and Surrey University.
