(Anthony Pateras, Riccardo La Foresta, Stefano Pilia)

“Sulla Lingua” is the new Italian-Australian trio formed in 2021 by Anthony Pateras, Stefano Pilia, and Riccardo La Foresta. The caveman rhythms and distilled melodies result from the collision of the three’s experiences in sharing collaborations and their solo projects. Starting with recording La Foresta’s Drummophone, manipulated and crafted by Pateras and Pilia during a residency in Modena last summer, the trio has built a repertoire of melodies that is already a modern classic of good-time math-prog-disco-slow-head-banging. “Sulla Lingua” is Italian for “on the tongue” or “on language” and is a symptom of the desire to cross idiomatic expressions with fun-loving rock music.

Anthony Pateras, synthesizer and samples
Stefano Pilia, baritone guitar
Riccardo La Foresta, drums

22h / PEDRO OLIVEIRA
Has been playing the drums since 1995. In 1997, he joined the band KAFKA and toured the country, including the F. SUDOESTE festival in 1999. In 2004, he became a part of SUBMARINE, and in 2005, he joined GREEN MACHINE. He began working as a supporting musician, accompanying OLD JERUSALEM. In 2007, he formed PEIXE:AVIÃO, an iconic band in the new Portuguese rock scene. He also created soundtracks for movies and television, such as “O QUE HÁ DE NOVO NO AMOR,” “MÉNILMONTANT,” and “THE LADY AND THE HOOLIGAN.”

In 2010, he founded the label/collective PAD / EASY PIECES. In 2015, with OZO, he started more exploratory work based on electronics and signal processing, using prepared drums. In 2016, he created KRAKE (solo), exploring the timbral relationship between drums, amplifiers, and electronics, creating a universe reminiscent of horror films. In 2017, he joined OSSO VAIDOSO (Alexandre Soares and Ana Deus). In 2018, he contributed to the recording of KRAKE’s “THE CLIFTON BRIDGE LANDSCAPES” with Jim Barr (Portishead), Jake McMurchie (Portishead-live/Massive Attack), and Pete Judge (Get the Blessing / Noel Gallagher-live).

In 2019, he took on the rhythmic creation for Clã and collaborated with Vincent Moon (Blogotheque), Priscilla Telmon, and Rabih Beaini on the music production for “HIBRIDOS FROM BRASIL.” In 2021, he began a partnership with Rui Reininho in the “20.000 Éguas Submarinas” concerts. With Clã, they won the Play Award for Best Band and received a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Song with the track “Tudo no Amor.” He has also collaborated with Bernardo Sassetti, Sérgio Godinho, Samuel Úria, BFachada, Tó Trips, João Pedro Coimbra, Sérgio Nascimento, Jorge Coelho, Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, Evan Parker, Gonçalo, Evols, Ra-fa-el, Sensible Soccers, Vincent Moon, Priscilla Telmon, Rabih Beaini, among others.
