António Poppe is a visual artist, poet, and performer living and working in Lisbon. He studied at Ar.Co (Center for Art and Visual Communication), the Royal College of Arts in London, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso-American Development Foundation, where he earned a Master’s degree in Performing Arts and Cinema. He has been engaged in a hybrid practice involving poetry, visual arts, and performance with numerous presentations.

Looking at recent years, in 2017, he exhibited “Watercourse” at Galeria 111 with Joana Fervença and participated in “Encounters Beyond History,” themed “The Magics” at the Centro Internacional de Artes José de Guimarães. In 2019, he held a solo exhibition/retrospective at ZDB gallery in Lisbon, curated by Natxo Checa.

In 2020, he published the fifth poetry book “O Agitador e a Corrente,” co-written with artist and poet Mumtazz, through Mariposa Azual. He also participated in the group exhibition “Festa.Fúria.Femina” featuring works from the FLAD collection at the MAAT museum.

In 2021, he took part in the BOCA festival, a biennial contemporary art event showcasing performance, visual arts, and music, with António Poppe and La Familia Gitana in music and performance. Additionally, he collaborated with Andréia Santana in a performance titled “overlaps riddles and spells.” He has performed and exhibited in various spaces such as the Serralves Museum, ZDB Gallery, Galeria 111, Culturgest, Carmona e Costa Foundation, among others. In addition to writing books and poetry recitals, he teaches drawing and practices meditation.

The international documentary film seminar brings together an international community of 100 participants for an intensive meeting of sessions and debates with the presence of 10 invited filmmakers throughout the entire seminar. With a surprise program leading up to the start of each screening, Doc’s Kingdom is a comprehensive and cumulative experience that encompasses film sessions, discussions, excursions, social meals, and collective gatherings in an informal and bucolic atmosphere.

Doc’s Kingdom maintains the same distinctive features since its first edition in 2000: over a week, the same group watches films and engages in informal discussions about them; each day includes film sessions from different filmmakers, fostering dialogue among the present authors and a collective debate open to all participants; since 2013, to encourage full participation in the seminar and intensify the experience of total immersion, the program of films is not disclosed in advance; throughout the intensive schedule of screenings and discussions, the experience also involves encountering the location where the seminar takes place, promoting a connection with the local community.

Contrary to the quantitative dimension of festivals and the formatting of academic space, what is proposed here is an experience of cinema and a global human experience, ideally becoming one. This meeting aims to provide a leap in knowledge and vision for those participating. On one hand, through the concentrated experience of screenings and discussions. On the other hand, using the group experience itself and the opportunity to immerse oneself in an inspiring location as catalysts, pulling participants away from their different usual contexts and inviting them into a total immersion experience.

António Poppe Artista visual, poeta, performer, António Poppe vive e trabalha em Lisboa. Estudou no Ar.Co (Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual), no Royal College of Arts, em Londres, e na School of the Art Institute of Chicago como bolseiro da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e Fundação Luso Americana para o Desenvolvimento, onde realizou um Mestrado em Arte Performativa e Cinema. Tem desenvolvido um trabalho híbrido de poesia, artes visuais e performance com inúmeras apresentações.

Olhando apenas para os últimos anos, em 2017 expôs Watercourse na Galeria 111, com Joana Fervença, e participou em Encontros para Além da História, sob o tema As Magias (no Centro Internacional de Artes José de Guimarães). Em 2019, realizou uma exposição/retrospetiva individual na galeria ZDB em Lisboa, com a curadoria de Natxo Checa.

Já em 2020, publicou o quinto livro de poesia O Agitador e a Corrente escrito a quatro mãos, com a artista e poeta Mumtazz, na editora Mariposa Azual. Participou também, na exposição coletiva: Festa.Fúria.Femina obras da coleção FLAD. No museu MAAT.

Em 2021, participou no festival BOCA, bienal de arte contemporânea (performance, artes visuais, música) com António Poppe e La Familia Gitana música e performance, e ainda, com Andréia Santana também numa performance overlaps riddles and spells. Já atuou e/ou expôs em múltiplos espaços como o Museu de Serralves, a Galeria ZDB, a Galeria 111, a Culturgest, a Fundação Carmona e Costa, entre outros. Para além da escrita de livros e dos recitais de poesia, dá aulas de desenho e faz meditação.

Nuno Rebelo nasceu em Torres Vedras. Iniciou a sua carreira nos anos 80 com os grupos Streetkids e Mler ife Dada. Durante os anos 90 dedicou-se sobretudo à composição de música para bailado, cinema e teatro, tendo sido também o compositor do hino da Expo 98 e da música do espectáculo de fogo de artifício que inaugurou “Porto 2001 Capital Europeia da Cultura”. Como guitarrista, tem-se dedicado à improvisação livre desde os anos 90, tendo actuado em vários países com inúmeros músicos e bailarinos. Entre 2013 e 2015 lecionou a disciplina “improvisação Contemporânea” na Escola Superior Taller de Musics, em Barcelona.
