Developed within an artistic residency programme designed by the cultural organisation Casinfância, this project enabled the expression of multiple disciplines and artistic practices. Through an exhibition, it opened to the community a series of spaces that are usually inaccessible, helping to transform the territory into a platform for artistic processes.
“da fábrica que desvanece à baía do tejo is a rhizome, a project that embraces different layers and took shape as an artistic residency, an exhibition and an editorial project. The name of this rhizomatic structure alludes to Francisco de Holanda, who in 1571 published Da Fábrica que Falece à Cidade de Lisboa, an urban planning treatise that reflects on the urban fabric and proposes new ways of organising the territory. Here, we are interested in that same movement: defining a field of action and confluence and inscribing within it new propositions, privileging processes of creation and research as the ground for producing new discourses and ways of thinking. […]
This publication is the final chapter of the project. It not only takes on the important task of documenting what the composite installation at Baía do Tejo once was, but also fosters encounters between artists and authors, becoming yet another space of discourse. At the same time, it is configured as a space of creation in its own right, presenting five new works, in dialogue with the site, with which we set out along the path traced in this folio.”
