Ricardo Jacinto: cello & electronics
Christoph Weilbach drums & electronics
Limited edition on K7, bringing together Ricardo Jacinto and Christoph Weilbach.
A fruitful meeting between two musicians who operate in seemingly disparate spheres, but have common ground and interests in the areas of improvisation and discovering new sonic possibilities for their respective instruments.
Christoph Weilbach, a German drummer who plays in projects ranging from shoegaze to free jazz and atmospheric death metal, has been investigating the interaction between the sounds coming from his instrument and electronic processing, using triggers and synthesizers directly connected to the drums.
For his part, sound artist and cellist Ricardo Jacinto, with a particular interest in the material characteristics of sound, is also a tireless explorer of the sonic limits of his instrument and the relationship between acoustic and electrical matter. He is a regular presence in the areas of more exploratory music and sound installations, but also in more idiomatic contexts, such as his project The Selva.
The music of “FAROL” is inspired by Virginia Woolf’s iconic work “To the Lighthouse”. In this thriving quest, the musicians tread this vast field of electroacoustic music, alternating between delicate, enveloping textures and passages of intense energy, making perceptive use of their resources and techniques, always in an inventive and fearless way. The result is a unique, vibrant and challenging mix.
