The project expands ideas developed in his solo work, which he has been presenting since 2014. A defining feature here—beyond the strength of an ensemble composed of highly accomplished artists in their respective fields—is the inclusion of an electroacoustic setup on the cello, with microphones placed at different points and loudspeakers connected to resonant objects for the diffusion of sound. The album Umbra, Penumbra & Antumbra was recorded live, focusing on the many possible combinations between acoustic instruments, the electroacoustic system and resonant objects. The result is a textural, minimalist and spectral musical experience that retains both dynamism and sonic richness. This project marks an important milestone in the career of Ricardo Jacinto.
