The project Matriz brought together musicians from Lisbon, Montemor-o-Novo and Porto in three distinct clusters, sustaining an immersive and collaborative dynamic as a cohesive group despite physical distance. Centred on experimentation with networked creative expression, the project explored strategies of decentralisation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Conceived as both a programmatic and artistic platform, Matriz set out to propose new challenges and paradigms for digital radio and networked music-making.
Working with the concept of a distributed ensemble, a collaborative software environment was developed to manage multiple audio connections and their relations over the internet, generating new geographies of listening and expanding the possibilities of interaction between artists and audiences.
