INVASOR ABSTRACTO #5

July 08 to 10, 2022 | Centro Cultural de Belém Garagem Sul

In celebration of Garagem Sul’s 10th anniversary, INVASOR ABSTRACTO is invited to perform a radio show. With a live-set and occupation by OSSO Colectivo and contributions from Ricardo Jacinto, Nuno Morão, Teresa Santos and Pedro Tropa.

ANTECÂMARA is a cultural creation and programming project run by ASSOCIAÇÃO ANTECÂMARA. A think tank in which various reflections and events converge – talks, events, exhibitions, workshops, performances, publications, etc. which, starting from architecture, cross all kinds of visual and spatial art, promoting critical thinking and disciplinary cross-fertilization.

ANTECÂMARA aims to promote, disseminate, create and debate themes related to architecture, the city and the territory, always taking into account the cultural dimension of the discipline, especially in its social and human sphere. In a logic of community and integration, Antecâmara operates as an aggregator for the community of professionals in the field of architecture and as an agglutinating space for the population of the neighborhood.

ANTECÂMARA’s means of dissemination include a gallery and a radio station.
GALERIA ANTECÂMARA’s program (https://antecamara-galeria.pt/galeria/) has various formats (exhibitions, workshops, talks, events, dedicated cycles, etc.) and participants from different areas, reaffirming the importance of the interdisciplinarity of architecture. Of fundamental importance is the continuous search for a relationship with the public spaces near the gallery and the underlying inclusion of residents of the neighborhood, and beyond, in Antecâmara’s activities.

RÁDIO ANTECÂMARA (http://antecamara-galeria.pt/en/radio/) combines interdisciplinarity with the desire to address the ‘hot’ topics of today’s society, fostering the creation and research of new contemporary discourses that have a voice through podcasts.
With almost 3 years of broadcasting content on architecture, RÁDIO ANTECÂMARA currently has 25 programs, 244 episodes, more than 150,000 clicks, around 500 hours of broadcasting and more than 30 authors and numerous guests. In 2022, she was invited to do a 6-month residency at Garagem Sul/CCB, giving life to the exhibition “Sound it. Rádio Antecâmara” (March-September 2022), whose sound installation (by João Galante) surrounds the recording studio which, through a differentiated weekly program (50 episodes and 150 guests), continues to reflect on the discipline of architecture in a transversal and broad way.

Com dois episódios semanais (39 já transmitidos), Antecâmara/P3 reúne os episódios mais marcantes da rádio e uma seleção dos emitidos no Sound It.

The headquarters of ASSOCIAÇÃO ANTECÂMARA are located in a former bakery and bread factory (around 250m2) in the Anjos district of Lisbon. The entrance – sales space – to the old bakery is the ANTECÂMARA GALLERY (30m2), with two large shop windows overlooking the street (Rua de Cabo Verde and Rua de Macau). The successive room (50m2) is a flexible space for training, meetings and rehearsals. Two old ovens (50m2), with a large dome made of donkey bricks, are transformed into a recording studio for RÁDIO ANTECÂMARA. The rest of the space is used by the artistic, administrative and production teams, as well as by the CCA architecture studio.

The scope of the programme developed by ASSOCIAÇÃO ANTECÂMARA has already been recognized by various institutions with which collaborative projects have been established, such as: the Arroios Parish Council, Prata da Casa, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and the Directorate General for the Arts (receiving Support for One-off Projects). It is also worth mentioning the aforementioned invitation from CCB_Centro Cultural de Belém to organize the exhibition that accompanied Rádio Antecâmara’s 6-month residency at Garagem Sul.
