WORKSHOP ⟡ Destruction – Creation ⟡ João Godinho and Graça Santos

In December 2022, following two consecutive floods in Lisbon, a family archive consisting of photographic slides was submerged in mud for several weeks. When recovered, the images on the slides had disappeared, either completely or partially. What do we do with these images now? Did the destruction create other images? What, after all, is “destruction as creation”? In this workshop, we explored this concept through the technique of hand collage.
