In 2002, he was awarded a PhD by the University of Edinburgh where he conducted research in both music and architecture.<\/p>\n<p>His music has been presented in venues such as the Melbourne Recital Hall, National Concert Hall Dublin, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ars Electronica, Casa da M\u00fasica, and in events such as Weimarer Fr\u00fchjahrstage fur zeitgen\u00f6ssische Musik, Wien Modern Festival, Cynetart and M\u00fasica Viva. His work as a pianist and improvisor has been released by Creative Source Recordings and he has collaborated with musicians such as Chris Brown, Mark Applebaum, Carlos Zingaro, Evan Parker and Pauline Oliveros. Pedro has recently led participatory projects involving communities in Belfast and favelas in Mar\u00e9, Rio de Janeiro. This work has resulted in sound art exhibitions at venues such as the Metropolitan Arts Centre, Belfast, Espa\u00e7o Ecco in Brasilia and Parque Lage and Museu da Mar\u00e9 in Rio.<\/p>\n<p>His writings reflect his approach to design and creative practice in a wider understanding of contemporary culture and emerging technologies. Pedro has been Visiting Professor at Stanford University (2007) and senior visiting professor at UFRJ, Brazil (2014). He has been Music Chair for international conferences such as ICMC 2008, SMC 2009, ISMIR 2012. At Queen&#8217;s University Belfast, he has held posts as Director of Education and Acting Head of School in the School of Music and Sonic Arts and is currently Director of Research for the School of Creative Arts, including the Sonic Arts Research Centre. In 2012 he was appointed Professor at Queen&#8217;s and awarded the Northern Bank&#8217;s &#8220;Building Tomorrow&#8217;s Belfast&#8221; prize.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"row\"><div class=\"toggle-wrap span8\"><div class=\"wpb_toggle\">Ricardo Jacinto<\/div><div class=\"wpb_toggle_content\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" id=\"internal-source-marker_0.06068180682485502\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Born in Lisbon \/1975. Lives and works in Lisbon and Belfast.<br \/>\nWorking as an sound artist and musician mainly focusing on the relation of sound and space. Graduated in Architecture at the University of Lisbon-Faculty of Architecture, Sculpture and Advanced Visual Arts at Ar.Co \/ Lisbon and the School of Visual Arts \/ New York. Music studies at Hot Clube de Portugal and Academia de Amadores de Musica. Currently doing a post-graduate research on site-specific Improvisation at Sonic Arts Research Center \/ Belfast.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1998 has presented his work at individual and group exhibitions, concerts and performances, in Portugal and abroad and has collaborated extensively with other artists, musicians, architects and performers. Since 2001 directs the intermedia project PARQUE, and Co.directs the dance-music project EYE HEIGHT with choreographer Beatriz Cantinho. Member of OSSO \u2013 Cultural Association and co-programmer of the ECHOES project (Listening and Place) with Nuno Torres and Sara Morais.<\/p>\n<p>Presented his work in solo and group exhibitions such as Project Room CCB_Lisboa, Circle Fine Arts in Madrid, MUDAM_Luxemburgo, Centre Culturel Gulbenkian_Paris, Manifesta 08_European Bienal of Contemporary Art in Italy, Loraine Frac-Metz, OK CENTRE_Linz_Austria, CHIADO 8_Culturgest_Lisbon and Casa da Musica in Porto.<br \/>\nProjected, with architect Pancho Guedes, the installation \u201cLisbosc\u00f3pio\u201d for the Official Portuguese Representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2006. In Culturgest (Lisbon and Porto) presented in 2008 a group of his installation and performance works since 1998.
