Earworm Versions is the recorded outcome of an exhibition and performance-installation originally presented at Culturgest, Lisbon, in 2008.

The music on this album unfolds as structured improvisation within an electroacoustic framework, focusing above all on the use of textures that intertwine in dense sonic clusters and evolving harmonic constructions. The recordings derive from the sound worlds of three instrumental installations created specifically for this project by Jacinto.

Glass (mirror) sonorities in the first two pieces—together with a natural Doppler effect produced by a pendulum loudspeaker—provide the basis for the musical compositions and underscore the central role of space in this work. These recordings may be heard as the soundscape of a territory titled Parque, where both audience and performers inhabit small architectural devices designed for the production of sound and light, reflecting an ongoing interplay between sound and environment. This spatial dimension is further enhanced by an interactive software system conceived by André Sier.

The project forms a unified, synaesthetic whole, completed by live video footage (edited by Nuno Ribeiro) of the three pieces presented on this album.

THE EARWORM VIRGINS by PARQUE

Format: CD
Label: OSSO and Shhpuma
Year: 2013
Duration: 72:23
Recording: Pedro Magalhães
Mixing: Pedro Magalhães and Ricardo Jacinto at Golden Pony Studios, Lisbon, 2008
Mastering: Rafael Toral
Production: Culturgest and Ricardo Jacinto
Executive production: Trem Azul and Shhpuma
Photography: Daniel Malhão
Cover object: Ricardo Jacinto
Graphic design: Dino Récio

Presented and recorded live at Culturgest (Lisbon) during Ricardo Jacinto’s exhibition Earworm (23 February–11 May 2008).

Price: 12€

Order

Parque • The Earworm Versions Ricardo Jacinto: cello, percussion Nuno Torres: alto saxophone Nuno Morão: percussion, melodica João Pinheiro: percussion, vibraphone Dino Récio: percussion André Sier: electronics 1–3 PEÇA DE EMBALAR (percussion on suspended mirrors used as gongs, cello, alto saxophone and electronics) 4–8 OS (percussion on tuned suspended mirrors, cello, alto saxophone, cymbals, electronics and recorded voice) 9–11 ATRASO […]

["post-23847","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
