Harmonies<\/em> emerges from the convergence of two earlier musical projects, QUEST<\/em> and SATIE.150<\/em>, now expanded with the addition of a third element: cellist Ricardo Jacinto, whose work is recognised both in the sound and visual art fields. Conceived in the aftermath of the success of QUEST<\/em> and SATIE.150<\/em>\u2014the latter celebrating the 150th anniversary of composer Erik Satie\u2014the piano and electronics duo of Joana Gama and Lu\u00eds Fernandes opens a new chapter in its practice by evolving into a trio.<\/p>\n

On QUEST<\/em>, the duo had already ventured into the territory of contemporary classical music through Gama\u2019s pianistic explorations, while Fernandes drew on rock and electronic music, informed by a trajectory that includes collaborations with the band peixe:avi\u00e3o under the alter ego Astroboy and later Landforms.<\/p>\n

Harmonies<\/em>, however, marks a new musical territory: the melodies suggested by Satie acquire a more evident pop inflection, while the underlying structures become more experimental. With the contribution of Ricardo Jacinto\u2014an artist deeply committed to experimentalism and improvisation\u2014the trio arrives at a sound world imbued with mystery and shaped by the enigmatic, further enriching the listening experience offered by Harmonies<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
